Heather Matthews, B.A., M.C.

Registered Psychologist

Welcome! I’m Heather Matthews, a Registered Psychologist with a passion for supporting individuals through their unique healing journeys. With a master’s degree in counselling from the University of Calgary and a bachelor’s degree in Honors Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to my practice.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with children, youth, and adults, helping them navigate through various challenges such as grief, loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance dependence, and sexual abuse. My approach is client-centred and attachment-based, ensuring that each therapeutic relationship is tailored to meet the individual needs of my clients.

  • Solution-Focused Approaches: Concentrating on clients' strengths and resources to find practical solutions to their concerns.

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT): Addressing unhelpful thinking patterns to improve emotional regulation and develop personal coping strategies.

  • Theraplay and Play-Based Interventions: Using play to promote emotional and psychological development in children.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): A specialized approach for processing and integrating traumatic memories.
